An 'On Call' allowance will be paid.
The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) target Serious / Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism within the five forces that comprise the Eastern Region. The successful applicant will form part of a skilled team, who work flexible hours to deliver surveillance products to their customer base.

Responsibilities.
The duties will include;
• Diagnosing faults and taking appropriate action, whilst operating in the field or in the workshop.
• Operating surveillance equipment safely, lawfully, ethically and in line with national SOP’s.
• Be able to travel throughout the UK and abroad.
• Operating on a call-out rota as required.

Essential
• Demonstrable knowledge and or experience in some of the following disciplines: - Electronics, IT, Telecommunications, Audio / Video Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Photography or Automotive Engineering.
• Demonstrate experience and knowledge of working with a wide range of tools within a workshop / practical environment.
• Possess and maintain a UK driving licence.
• Possess and maintain a current passport.

Desirable
• Have demonstrable knowledge of network / IP infrastructures.
• Previous experience in Police or other Law Enforcement environments.
• Experience in research and development

Process
• A degree of fitness is required as the deployments could be in confined spaces, working at heights etc. A fitness test will form part of the selection process for any applicants successful at the shortlisting stage. This test will be the same as that used for Police recruitment.
• Following the fitness test the successful applicant will attend an assessment centre. This centre will involve a practical test, a written exam and a role play exercise.
• Following the successful completion of the assessment centre the applicant will attend a formal interview.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the following competencies and the minimum entry requirements from the role profile:
