THE ROLE

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for Police Officers to be seconded to the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit; Prison Intelligence Unit (ERSOU PIU) working in the East of the region.  This role is agile however there will be a requirement to travel within the region when required.                

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ERSOU has responsibility for targeting serious and organised crime through the delivery of covert services to the six regional forces and Kent. 

ERSOU PIU, which is a specialist unit working with sensitive intelligence to support proactive covert operations. MARSOC is a small newly formed team to tackle Serious Organised Crime matters across the regional HMPPS estate and in the community. 

These roles are for officers from Forces who seek to undertake intelligence work in support of serious and organised crime investigations. Officers will work with the ERSOU PIU, the HMPPS Serious and Organised Crime unit, and any other Force department or Agencies who require specialist intelligence support. 

This post is ideally suited to officers who are currently working in or have experience of working in investigative (not necessarily detective) roles. 

Successful applicants will require a flexible approach to the working day. MARSOC is a newly formed team funded by HMPPS therefore the commitment may be challenging but the role will be extremely rewarding as you will play a vital role in creating new approaches to tackling organised crime and achieving outcomes against those persons who cause the most harm to our communities. 

TRAVEL COMMITMENT

There will be a requirement to travel around the east region for operational deployments. 

WORK LOCATION

ERSOU supports principles of agile working and encourages Staff from any force or location to apply for positions, regardless of where the main base for the particular team is. Whilst some functions will need to be delivered at designated / appropriate sites on specific occasions, many functions can be undertaken remotely, either at ERSOU, local Police Force building or from home. Your designated place of work can be negotiated. This will be considered as part of the recruitment process to ensure options are workable and can be discussed in advance with the contact point named in this advert.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate competence in their current role and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and partnership working skills. VETTING

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.
