ERSOU is a Disability Confident employer. Should you require any reasonable adjustments for your application process, please contact the HR Service Centre on 01438 757777. Where possible we will also consider flexible working requests.

THE ROLE

An opportunity has arisen for DC/PC roles on the JLAR Team within ERSOU-CTP based in Hertfordshire. Two roles are currently being recruited for with the potential for other vacancies to become available over the next 12 months. Applicants who pass the interview stage will be placed in a pool and considered for projected vacancies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibility of the role is to manage joint CTP specific investigations with partner agencies, setting aims and objectives, raising investigative actions and undertaking enquiries to develop intelligence and mitigate risks to National Security, as well as any other relevant risks identified during the investigation. The post holder is required to liaise with colleagues from across the region and nationally and utilise a variety of overt and covert tactics to reach a resolution to the investigation.

This role provides excellent personal development opportunities including the trainee investigator programme and additional specialist Counter Terrorism support roles.

This is an exciting opportunity that requires a highly motivated person with excellent communication and ICT skills who is looking to develop their career and work within a very rewarding area under the PURSUE strand of Counter Terrorism Policing.

The post holder will be required to join the ERSOU CTP on-call rota and have a full UK driving licence with the ability to travel around the Eastern Region and the wider UK based on operational requirements.

TRAVEL COMMITMENT

There will be a requirement to travel around the east region for operational deployments. Work vehicle provided for this.

WORK LOCATION

ERSOU supports principles of agile working and encourages Staff from any force or location to apply for positions, regardless of where the main base for the particular team is. Whilst some functions will need to be delivered at designated / appropriate sites on specific occasions, many functions can be undertaken remotely, either at ERSOU, local Police Force building or from home. Your designated place of work can be negotiated. This will be considered as part of the recruitment process to ensure options are workable and can be discussed in advance with the contact point named in this advert.

VETTING

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria), Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) and Development Vetting before taking up the post. This will involve vetting checks on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial enquiries. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. Anyone holding dual nationality can make an application but may be required to relinquish non-British nationality if successful (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with CTP. When applying please click Yes to the British Nationality Question in order to progress to the next step of the application process. One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance, substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

If you’re already married to, or cohabiting with, a person who isn’t a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the discretion of the department. You should note however, that marriage to, or cohabitation with, a person who isn’t a British citizen after appointment may, in some circumstances, result in the withdrawal of security clearance and subsequent transfer to another department, or (if this is not possible or the officer does not wish to transfer) dismissal. Each case will be considered on its merits, taking into account the ties between the person involved and the United Kingdom.
