An exciting opportunity has arisen for role of Detective Inspector or T/Detective Inspector – Operational Lead for OP Excalibur. OP Excalibur supports the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit by conducting pro-active online based investigations targeting CSE based offences.

 

Applications are invited from substantive Detective Inspectors/Temporary Detective Inspectors/Sergeants with the National Inspector Exam qualification.

 

The role will be based at a discreet location in Kent and is for a full-time position in view of obtaining substantive promotion to Inspector. The successful applicant will have experience in safeguarding, risk assessment and investigation. They will be able to demonstrate innovation, be creative and will have an in depth understanding of targeting offenders through the use of covert policing tactics.

 

Specification for the role:

 

• A suitably qualified substantive Detective Inspector/Temporary Detective Inspector/ Detective Sergeant with the necessary National Inspector Examination qualification.

 

• Demonstrates awareness of child abuse and safeguarding procedures and protocols such as those set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children publications, and third sector publications such as Digital Dangers. 

 

• Must be able to evidence the setting of policy desirably towards the protection and safeguarding of any child.

 

• Must be aware of current legal issues, case law and guidelines relevant to undercover operations as well as those relating to offences under The Sexual Offences Act 2003, other relevant offences and amendments. 

 

Interested applicants must demonstrate their ability to work to the highest standards of integrity and be able to recognise sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality; you will need to demonstrate the ability to work within a fast-moving dynamic environment under pressure and have no outstanding discipline issues.

 

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

 

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the following competencies and the minimum entry requirements from the role profile:
