Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies (BCH) are looking to recruit an experienced Query Team Senior Advisor to join a newly-established Query Team within the HR department, supporting officers and staff across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

This is an exciting time to join BCH with the HR function embarking upon a period of transformation to better reflect the business needs of the policing service it supports. Our multi-disciplined HR team delivers to a collaboration of local forces and departments with wide ranging priorities and we are implementing an ambitious new operating model that will provide strategic oversight and support local working. Our Query Team provides a one stop shop for immediate HR queries, which are received from across the three counties via an electronic system and by telephone.

Reporting to the Query Team Manager the role holder will be one of two Senior Advisors. Each Senior Advisor will proactively manage a small team of Query Advisors and independently take on the more complex HR queries. This will include providing expert and professional HR advice and guidance on areas such as discipline, grievance, recruitment, attendance and performance. The role holder will be responsible for providing the initial advice and support on complex ER queries, understanding what is required, and resolving them as soon as possible. Complex queries that develop into longer-term cases will be passed on to one of our HR Consultants to take forward.

A critical part of this role is managing and developing the Query Advisors to develop team capability, supporting them to take ownership for providing HR support and technical advice on all a wide range of HR queries. As this is a new team the Query Team Senior Advisor will also be responsible for identifying new ways of working to optimise the service we deliver to our customers.

Providing a quality HR service to our customers and optimising the use of digital technology are paramount to our vision of the new HR model. The Senior Advisor will proactively support this by engaging with key stakeholders and with colleagues in other HR functions to help develop and continually improve the service we provide.

Applicants must be a Level 5 Associate member of the CIPD or have equivalent experience. With working knowledge of employment law, you will also have a proven track record of applying HR policies and providing expert HR advice in a fast-paced environment.

Customer focussed, you will always see the bigger picture, be innovative in your thinking and collaborative in your approach. You will be a real problem solver and effective communicator.

Post holders will be based in Stevenage and may occasionally be required to travel to other sites across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire.

In return BCH are offering a competitive salary and benefits package and a genuine opportunity to help make a real difference to your local community. Please note that the pay scales can be viewed by clicking the link at the bottom of this advert. Standard practice is to offer starting salaries at the bottom of the grade for the role, although there is some discretion to acknowledge exceptional experience by granting a limited number of additional pay points.
