An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader of the Personal Safety Training Team within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire Police and Hertfordshire Constabulary (BCH) HR Operational Learning. The Personal Safety Team are responsible for all training of new and existing officers and staff to ensure they are fit and accredited for their role. This includes carrying out the Job-Related Fitness Test, First Aid and Personal Safety Training. There are teams across all 3 forces and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring standardisation across the board in line with the National Curriculum set out by the College of Policing. 

The role will involve the following along with additional responsibilities detailed in the role profile: 

  • To work with individuals and departments to meet the demands of the BCH Operational Learning requirements.
  • Management of a team of operational practitioners to develop and maintain solutions to meet the identified needs.
  • Planning and ensuring courses are available for all 3 forces
  • Ensuring Health and Safety risk assessments are completed and updated
  • To ensure the effective deployment of trainers to meet demand.
  • QA and review of trainers
  • Contribute to achieving the vision, purpose and values of Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies.
  • Travelling to each of the force areas. 

The team leader role will report directly to the Operational Skills Manager, and will work closely with them ensuring that the PST team are delivering to National standards in line with the BCH ethos. Over the next 12 months there will be changes to the curriculum and it will be important for the successful candidate to work with the Operational Skills Manager to ensure compliance. 

The role is a full-time role which will require working two Saturdays a month, hours of work will consist of 0800-1600 however this can be discussed based on the individual’s requirements.
