The RECU is made up of 5 and 7 force capabilities including the Criminal Finances Team (formerly RART), the Financial Investigation Team and Asset Confiscation Enforcement (ACE) team and Fraud Team.

The Criminal Finances Team (CFT) target high-end money laundering linked to Serious and Organised Crime and are recruiting into permanent vacancies for FIO’s. The FIO’s form a smaller team within the CFT of tenacious, dedicated and professional staff who are responsible for receiving, assessing, developing and disseminating financial intelligence derived from SAR’s (Suspicious Activity Reports) on behalf of the constituent forces.

Post holders ensure that SARs linked to vulnerability are dealt with expeditiously in order to protect those at risk. This is an opportunity to make a real difference to lives of vulnerable people.

Post holders will be expected to work with other ROCU capabilities, in particular the Sensitive Intelligence Unit in, order to identify and develop intelligence from sensitive sources or support live operations. They will link in with the SAR Intelligence Development Team, a coordinated, national network of similar roles. capabilities. Post holders will also assist in the identification and enforcement of outstanding confiscation orders throughout the constituent forces.

Post holders will be given training to be able to research and use a variety of intelligence databases to develop financial intelligence obtained from the use of the Elmer, Arena and Athena databases.

Applicants will possess competent IT skills, be inquisitive, decisive and articulate. Applicants must be able to work independently, show initiative, be able to work in a team, be able to work in the detail and demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.
