CTP Performance Researcher

ERSOU celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected. We actively encourage applications from underrepresented or minority groups. ERSOU is a Disability Confident employer. Should you require any reasonable adjustments for your application process, please contact the HR Service Centre on 01438 757777. We also offer the guaranteed interview scheme; this means that all candidates with a disability covered by the Equality Act 2010, who meet the minimum entry requirements for the role, will be invited to attend an interview. Where possible we will also consider flexible working requests.

East Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is part of a national network of regionally based units that coordinate and support counter terrorism investigations across police force borders. East CTP directly coordinates CT policing across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk whilst also assisting in the assessment and management of threats, risks and vulnerabilities across the UK.

The unit currently has an exciting opportunity for a Performance Researcher. Working within the Research and Analysis team, you will be responsible for collecting and collating a diverse range of information in support of regional performance requirements for the unit. Your work will directly assist the Performance Analyst to produce high quality products to inform senior managers and national functions. You will need to have experience in working with Windows based software, with particular knowledge of Microsoft Excel. You will also need strong numerical skills to interpret and present data, alongside a positive, flexible approach to working. The successful candidate will manage multiple tasks and will need to maintain discretion within a confidential environment.

The post is based in central Hertfordshire but on occasion the post holder may also be required to travel outside of the region to attend meetings and training. As such possession of a valid UK driving licence would be an advantage. These additional working and travel requirements may be negotiable and will be reimbursed in line with Force Policy. The successful candidate will be employed by Bedfordshire Police.
Due to the sensitivities of the role all applicants are asked to maintain discretion about their application. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) prior to taking up the post, leading to Developed Vetting once in post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined. A current security clearance is highly desirable.

This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. Anyone holding dual nationality can make an application but may be required to relinquish non-British nationality if successful (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with CTP. When applying please click Yes to the British Nationality Question in order to progress to the next step of the application process. One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance; substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the minimum entry requirements from the role profile (maximum 500 words).

If you are an internal applicant working within BCH (Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire Constabulary or Hertfordshire Constabulary), please upload either your CV or a completed internal role summary form. This form can be found in the attached documents. Please note you will still be required to evidence against the minimum entry requirements.

If you are an external applicant, please ensure you upload your CV and evidence against the minimum entry requirements from the role profile. To ensure the recruitment process is fair and equal, please do not include any personal details on your CV, other than your name. An internal role summary form should not be completed.

Please note that this advert will be live to redeployees throughout the recruitment of this advert. Any redeployee that applies will only need to evidence against the minimum entry requirements of the role profile. To do this if you are a redeployee, write ‘Redeployee’ in the other competency boxes and just complete your evidence against the minimum entry requirements in the relevant box. Redeployees will take priority over other candidates at any point during the recruitment process up until a final offer is produced and you will be notified if this happens.
