Police Staff Investigator – ERSOU / Economic Crime Directorate – Based in Hertfordshire or Suffolk

The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) has responsibility for targeting Serious and Organised Crime across the region and the delivery of specialist covert services to Forces when required.

The Regional Economic Crime Unit (RECU) has responsibility for the 7 forces in the region to investigate complex economic crime and supporting operational teams across ERSOU.

The RECU consists of 3 teams:
• The Criminal Finances Team (CFT)
• The Fraud Team (FT)
• The Financial Investigation Team (FIT)

There are immediate vacancies for investigators on the following teams:

CFT – 7 Force Responsibility
The focus of this team is the pro-active development of intelligence linked to Serious & Organised Crime with a specific focus on High End Money Laundering. This is a dynamic team that will manage investigations and respond to intelligence gained from both overt and covert streams.
The CFT consists of Detective Constables, Police Staff Investigators, Financial Investigators and Financial Intelligence Officers.

FT – 5 Force Responsibility
The focus of this team is Fraud that is complex and beyond the capability of regional forces. The FT consists of Detective Constables and Police Staff Investigators.

This is an opportunity to join the RECU and become part of one of these teams. Applicants will be enthusiastic, innovative, forward-thinking and proactive people who relish the challenges of investigating High-End Money Laundering and Complex Fraud, by targeting Serious and Organised Criminals throughout the region.

The successful applicant will have opportunities to learn new skills and abilities, work closely with the ROCU capabilities and apply your experience as an investigator to make a real difference to the impact on Serious and Organised Crime.

The applicant will need to be a person with:
• Experience in criminal investigations.
• Experience of completing the role of Disclosure Officer.
• Experience of completing the role of Exhibit Officer.
• Experience of conducting interview with witnesses/suspects and taking statements.
• Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative.
• Full and valid driving licence.

The successful applicants will be based at Hertfordshire or Suffolk, however may be required to travel across the region when required. The Hours of Work will be Monday – Friday 8-4 with occasional shift work.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

You will be expected to provide written evidence around the following competencies and the minimum entry requirements from the role profile:
