We have a vacancy for a Transport officer based at Bedfordshire HQ.
With duties to include the below:
1. To report to the Fleet Support Manager (Under Review) on Fleet requirements with regards to service scheduling, defect reporting/repairs, accident damage, additional/temporary vehicle/bicycle requirements and delivery/collection requirements. To book vehicles in to the workshop for service/repair & MOT in a timely manner, so vehicles do not go over service/MOT.
2. To monitor the Traka boards at their allocated stations to ensure that the data entered by vehicle users is consistent and accurate and that vehicle keys are being returned to the boards in line with the force standard operating procedures. To update Traka user data to ensure that authorised users have access to the appropriate vehicles and to deal with any local problems with access to vehicle keys.
3. To assist in ensuring that all Force owned / borrowed vehicles and bicycles are available and ‘fit’ for service (routine servicing / defect reporting etc). Carryout routine vehicle/bicycle safety inspections at stations to ensure all damage /defects have been reported. Move vehicles/bicycles from stations and /or other locations to the fleet workshop or other locations as and when required. Ensure Vehicle Excise Discs; Fuel Cards; Log Books etc are supplied to the correct vehicles. Contact and manage as required external fleet service providers i.e. Windscreen Repairers / cycle service contractors . Attending ‘closed’ stations as required so that Force Recovery Contractors can access / remove broken-down vehicles.
4. Traka – To ensure boards are working correctly and organise technical support from the manufacturer to deal with hardware or software issues at their designated stations.
5. Manage the movement of wheels & tyres required at a local level to cover punctures / damage etc, assisting with the replacement of damage / punctured wheels at stations, ensuring processes are adhered to and an audit trail maintained.
6. Undertake routine maintenance and simple repairs (flat batteries / bulbs / wipers / punctures etc) to ensure allocated vehicles/bicycles are available for use.
7. To ensure vehicle radios are tested and unlocked when required.
8. Research the Traka system for a particular driver/officer, on a particular time and date, as requested by customer services when FPN’s or other contraventions come into the Force. Or even from within the force, in order that the driver/officer can be identified and the contravention notice sent to him/her for fine paying.
9. Read vehicle mileages on a weekly basis, and monthly, a complete record of all vehicle current mileages are sent electronically to Chiltern Transport Consortium Workshops at Halsey Road, Kempston.
