An exciting opportunity has arisen within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire’s Scientific Support Unit.

ISO accredited fingerprint examination work is carried out from a tri-force unit based at Hertfordshire Constabulary Headquarters in Welwyn Garden City. The unit is primarily responsible for analysing, comparing, evaluating and verifying fingerprints and crime scene marks and also utilises IDENT1, the national fingerprint system.

A Vacancy has arisen for the role of Fingerprint Identification officer whom will be responsible for the processing of volume and major crime cases.
The successful applicant will need to be an experienced Fingerprint Ten-print Officer or have successfully completed nationally recognised training in Fingerprint Examination. They may also be required to attend crime scenes and mortuaries to carry out effective fingerprint examination and recovery.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals to join our busy team who have good communication skills, an eye for detail, and the resilience to keep trying even when faced with challenging and complex situations.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of education, ideally in a science related discipline with proven skills in numeracy and literacy and also be able to comply with the entry requirements of the role profile alongside a good understanding of the ISO 17025 accreditation standard.
