The Estates and Facilities Department of Bedfordshire Police, provides expertise, support and the appropriate built environment to meet the requirements of the diverse operations of a modern police force. The Building surveyor will be essential to the success of the department ensuring the accommodation continues to evolve to meet the ever-changing demands of policing as well as maintaining and prolonging building life.

Working within a small but busy team in a public sector organisation, you will be a professional Surveyor, with a relevant qualification (RICS/CIOB/or construction related Degree or HNC). You will be responsible for the delivery of a focused Building Surveying service potentially including the completion of condition surveys, the management of development projects as well as the coordination of office moves and stakeholder engagement.

Self-motivated, you must have good organisation and communication skills and be able to demonstrate practical and technical experience in a range of work including all types of modern and traditional construction, condition surveys, preparation of CAD plans, project monitoring and management. The ability to lead projects and manage your own workload and ways of working is essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for projects ranging in size, from project inception to completion and beyond. They will be expected to take a proactive role in co-ordinating and leading design and contractors and advising clients.

The Estates and Facilities Department is based at Police HQ, but maintains buildings across the whole of Bedfordshire – the successful candidate will be required to travel to these sites.
