This role is based within the BCH Human Resources Service Centre in Stevenage Police Station which is the first point of contact for all HR Enquiries for internal and external customers.

You will act as first line manager for a team of HR Service Centre Team Leaders and second line manager for a team of HR Service Centre Assistants. The role operates in a very busy office environment, ensuring that the team is managed and motivated to achieve business objectives and a high level customer focused service is given for all HR transactional processes. You will also be responsible for managing the development of the team and ensuring staff are multi skilled and flexible to meet demands.

Using your HR knowledge and experience, you will take ownership for ensuring the HR Knowledgebase and other sources of HR information are maintained to maximise customer self-service and will respond to highly complex enquiries from internal and external customers, offering advice and assistance where necessary. You will also be involved in leading the team through the transition from a separate BCH HR transactional team to one BCH HR Service Centre including process alignment and being involved with building new BCH HR systems.

You will be quick to respond to changes in workload and staffing needs and work closely with other Assistant Managers to allocate resources across the team to provide support as required to ensure service standards are met also ensuring cohesive cross working within the team so that processes are as effective and efficient as possible.

This is a challenging role and excellent communication skills with all levels of staff are a necessity, as is a high level of self-motivation, pro activity and the ability to multi task. You must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy, be flexible in your approach and be able to work well as part of a team.

The successful candidate will have experience of supervising a team in a complex and changing environment with a target driven focus and will also have experience of providing a high level of customer service, ensuring service delivery is fit for purpose and of managing resources to meet fluctuating and competing demands.
