***Bedfordshire Police is offering the exciting opportunity for Force Control Room Oscar 2, Dispatch and Contact Supervisor within the newly relocated First Contact and Crime Recording function. This department will be a victim-focused central point for all public call handling and crime recording for the whole of Bedfordshire, carrying out a variety of different functions, including emergency and non-emergency (999/101) call handling, crime recording and handling of dissatisfaction. The team will be based at Bedfordshire Police HQ in Kempston, and will be open seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The Oscar 2 role will be pivotal in delivering our ‘right first time’ approach including management of the immediate threat, harm and risk and victim care. The role will include co-ordinating staff and the management of incident deployment including pre-planned and spontaneous incidents including flexible deployment to manage risk and meet demand and meet first class service delivery. Ensure that Public Contact personnel are available at key times of our operational demand to ensure our highest possible service is delivered to the public and organisational risk is appropriately delivered.

Applicants will work 24/7 on a 4 on/4 off, 12-hour shift pattern, 365 days per year. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate and display excellent customer service skills and professionalism and be committed to supporting others to deliver outstanding service to the public. We are looking for a good team player, who can also work on their own initiative who possesses the above skills. Knowledge of police systems and First Contact/Crime Recording environment is desirable, but not essential as full training will be given. Demonstrable ICT skills with attention to detail and accuracy are essential. All applicants will be required to provide evidence of performance against technical and behavioural competencies detailed in the role profile.

Successful shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview and selection process on 15th March 2018. The anticipated start date is as soon as possible subject to suitable vetting and medical clearance.

Starting salary for successful candidates will be £29,307 plus shift allowance as detailed above.
