An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Media Investigation Team, which is recruiting due to an expansion in the size of the team as a direct response to Operation Costello. This is the largest operation Bedfordshire Police has ever run to combat the highest levels of serious and organised crime across the county.  

Applications are invited from dynamic, tenacious and self-motivated individuals who have a keen interest in investigating serious and complex crime, with good working knowledge of new/emerging capabilities and technology as well as covert policing tactics and legislation also desirable.  

Digital Media Investigators contribute towards the overarching policing purpose by providing specialist investigative capability force wide. We support digital investigations along with being responsible for Cyber dependent and complex Cyber enabled investigations.   

The post holder will support colleagues across the force with regard to Digital Media acquisition at crime scenes, including communication data enquiries, to ensure the best available evidence is achieved. This will involve a considerable degree of working within the field.    

The post holder will be responsible for the investigation and file building of cyber dependent/complex cyber enabled investigations adopted by the team with a view to securing successful convictions.  We prioritize victim focused investigations, ensuring that both public and colleagues’ expectations are at the heart of our mission to deliver the best possible evidence.   

Due to the nature of the data recovered, applicants must be comfortable with viewing unpleasant material including indecent images of children.

Successful candidates will need to hold a full driving license and will be subject to enhanced vetting and integrity checks, which must be passed prior to undertaking the role.

The interview will be a competency, based interview marked against the integrated competency framework and will require you to provide examples of your skills and knowledge.
