An exciting opportunity has arisen for a police constable or full time police staff equivalent (PSE) (please see alternative staff advert) to join the Eastern Regional Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) as a Digital Forensic Examiner. We also welcome applications from DC's.

Applications are invited for the Police officer post of Digital Forensic Examiner within the Regional Cyber Crime Unit (RCCU) of ERSOU. Ideally applicants will be experienced digital forensic investigators, however applications from officers with basic experience are welcome, but depending on the level of interest, trained and experienced officers would take precedence at paper sift.

This will be a secondment based in South Essex. Bedfordshire is the lead Force for ERSOU.

ERSOU RCCU investigators’ conduct proactive and reactive investigations into serious and complex cyber-crime criminality, which could include both cyber enabled or cyber dependent criminality with significant regional or national impact and/or linked to organised crime as tasked nationally. The Digital Forensic Examiner is key to the investigations, working as the expert in dealing with the digital evidence. This role in line with ISO17025 will provide the expert digital evidence required and key for cyber-crime investigations and will involve working with the relevant Detectives to identify and present the relevant evidence as well as attend crime scenes and warrants as required across the region and occasionally nationally.

The normal working hours will be Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

As this is a PDF document this will need to be wet signed. We will accept an audit trail of emails from your line manager and Head of Department if a wet signature is not achievable.

The completed approval form needs to be returned to ersou.recruitment@herts.pnn.police.uk as close to the closing date as possible.  Application forms will not be progressed to the shortlisting stage until the recruitment team has received a completed approval form.

Kent officers will need to have their approval form signed by their 1st line manager and then sent to hr.resource.planning@kent.essex.pnn.police.uk to be authorised by Chief Officers.
