The BOSON team are a countywide unit who manage the risk posed by Organised Crime Groups and mapped gang nominal. More often than not violence is fuelled by individuals who try to dominate the drugs market within a specific geographical area.

With bases in both the north and south of the county the team are seeking a dedicated individual who has a sound background in drug related offending and can therefore support the BOSON team in achieving its objectives by undertaking the following responsibilities;

1. To act as an expert witness for Drugs Trafficking Cases.
2. Provision, Management and recording of Drugs Expert Witness Statements.
3. SPOC – Offering Drugs guidance and support to Police Officers / Police Staff/ Partner Agencies and the Public.
4. Maintain Drug Related Partnership Links – including being a member and participating in the Local Intelligence Network and attending regular meetings.
5. Testing of Controlled Drugs.
6. To manage the destruction of Controlled Drugs.
7. Oversee the integrity of the Drugs aspect within the force property management system, including Home Office Returns.
8. Maintenance and provision of Drugs Investigation Equipment.
9. To co-ordinate the provision of training – drug laws, policies and procedures.
10. Establish and integrate new and improved methods of working.
11. Distribution of alerts for dangerous substances and changes in law.
12. Inform the force and partners on current market trends and practices in relation to controlled drugs and precursors.
13. Understand and co-ordinate data gathering and submission to key partners according to statutory and other formal reporting procedures.
14. Attend court or other hearings as required to provide evidence or information as required.
15. Awareness and compliance with the Code of Ethics: Principles and Standards of Professional Behaviour for the Police Forces of England & Wales.
16. Maintain professional standards of appearance, and maintain force equipment and vehicles.

The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside both investigation teams and therefore will be expected to travel between both Luton and Bedfordshire Police HQ (Kempston, Bedford).

The working hours for this vacancy are 08:00am - 04:00pm Monday to Friday.
