The Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU) is a specialist unit working with sensitive intelligence in support of covert proactive operations. The unit has responsibility for managing and developing intelligence, identifying threat, risk and harm and opportunities to disrupt Organised Crime Groups. The unit supports covert operations for the 7 forces in the Eastern region (Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Kent and Essex) as well as ERSOU’s operational and investigation teams.

The unit currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Intelligence Analyst. Working to the Head of Analysis, you will be responsible for line managing and directing a busy team of analysts who are responsible for providing the tactical analytical support to covert operations. You will be responsible for setting and overseeing the standards of the team, ensuring they comply with national standards and legislation. You will also lead a team of intelligence staff in support of Major Crime Kidnap & Extortion Crime in Actions, providing tactical advice to Senior Investigating Officer. The successful applicant will be at the forefront of advancements in intelligence collection and IPA 2016 capabilities, identifying and implementing new software and tactics to improve the regions analytical capability.

The role can be diverse and challenging so it is essential that the successful candidate is highly motivated, organised and has a positive, flexible, approach to working whilst maintaining discretion within a confidential environment. Previous analytical experience, working with sensitive intelligence, communications data and covert tactics is essential. IPP accreditation as a senior analyst or analyst is also desirable.

There is a requirement to work a shift pattern that covers working one weekend in eight along with being on call for that same time plus an additional 4 weekdays. You will be based at Hertfordshire, however may be required to travel across the region.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.
