The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner Bedfordshire is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced “Research and Engagement Support Officer” to join their small yet far reaching team.  

The successful candidate will be required to work a great deal on their own initiative but also as part of a team, they will be responsible for supporting the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Chief Executive of the OPCC (CE) and the Senior Management team when attending events and engagements. 

The successful candidate will be required and expected to manage all of the key factors to ensure that the PCC and members of the senior management team are correctly briefed prior to attendance and are able to ensure that the maximum amount of benefit is gained from every interaction that takes place. 

In carrying out this role, the successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Assistant to the PCC and CE, together with the Engagement and Events Officer and the Communications Officer for the OPCC. 

The successful applicant must have a strong working knowledge in the use of social media, basic video editing and a knowledge of multimedia communication.

This role opportunity comes at an exciting time as the Office is about to embark on delivering the newly appointed Police and Crime Commissioners -Three-year Police and Crime Plan. This means we will have new opportunities for the creation of projects that will drive down criminality, support victims and improve trust and confidence across the communities of Bedfordshire in their police service.  

This role will involve considerable interaction with members of the public from all communities across Bedfordshire, together with key partners from other emergency services, the wider criminal justice system, the third sector and the business community. Excellent communication and social interaction skills are therefore required. 

This post is offered with an initial probation period of 6 months and after successful completion is expected to continue for the duration of the remaining first term of the PCC (up to around 2.5 years). 

The Office of Police and Crime Commissioner is based in Kempston, Bedfordshire and the role will require both remote working, travel and days in the office. The role may at times also require work outside of the core working hours at times of necessary demand.
