Bedfordshire Police Special Constabulary are seeking a strategic, motivational, dynamic, forward thinking leader of our Special Constabulary to join our Chief Officer team. You would lead our volunteer workforce providing strategic direction and business engagement with our communities and workforce, to ensure that Bedfordshire Police continues to deliver an exceptional policing service.


You should have a broad understanding of the role that the Special Constabulary and volunteers play in supporting day to day policing and the challenges that they are currently facing. Your experience as a leader in your field of expertise provides an opportunity to transfer your business and commercial skills into a new and challenging environment.


If you are not currently a serving Special Constable, we will support the successful candidate through the training programme, giving you full police powers and an in-depth understanding of the role the Special Constabulary plays in keeping Bedfordshire safe.


The successful candidate will work with the chief officer team and the Office of the Police and Crime


Commissioner to:


•             Undertake an ambassadorial role to ensure visible leadership and to inspire a progressive image of the Special Constabulary


 


•             Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Special Constabulary senior management team to achieve the strategic ambition


 •            Contribute to the development and delivery of an effective recruitment strategy

•             Work effectively with operational commanders - including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure that the Special Constabulary supports the delivery of the Annual and Three Year Policing Plan and the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan 2016.


 •             Assist with the development of a training strategy and delivery programme taking into account the varied deployment categories and sub-specialisms


 •             Implement outcome frameworks to measure impact and provide evidence for change
