Police Staff – Case Builder

Applications are invited for this police staff role to work in an On-Line investigation Team using innovative tactics to protect and safeguard children from abuse.

Your role as case builder will be to work within the unit, conducting enquiries and building evidence of the highest quality to enable the successful prosecution of those offenders and the safeguarding of children. You will be required to work collaboratively with forces across the UK to progress criminal investigations and liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service. You will also be required to manage the disclosure of unused material including sensitive material.
Your role within the on-line team will involve extensive use of computer systems so previous experience with this is desirable although not essential. Knowledge of Social Media and open source research will also be desirable.

You will be part of a dedicated flexible team, committed to the protection of children for sexual abuse across the Eastern Region.
Previous knowledge of open source enquiries and social media is desirable although not essential. Due to the extensive work you will be required to do on computer based systems, knowledge and experience in this area will also be desirable.

This position will be based in Kent but may involve work across the Eastern Region.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting and Security Clearance or Development vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.

If you’re already married to, or cohabiting with, a person who isn’t a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the discretion of the department. You should note however, that marriage to, or cohabitation with, a person who isn’t a British citizen after appointment may, in some circumstances, result in the withdrawal of security clearance and subsequent transfer to another department, or (if this is not possible or the officer does not wish to transfer) dismissal. Each case will be considered on its merits, taking into account the ties between the person involved and the United Kingdom.
