Communications officers play a crucial role in helping Bedfordshire Police protect people and fight crime. They take part on a duty rota in a busy press office, working closely with the media, handling enquiries, writing appeals and publishing across a variety of internal and external channels. The role is also responsible for dedicated portfolio areas – supporting the unit, or department’s objectives by creating bespoke integrated communications campaigns. The successful candidate will have excellent communications skills, working knowledge of media law, experience of working under pressure and as part of a wider team with a high attention to detail and confidence to persuade and influence officers at all levels. The force has unique challenges and is often in the national spotlight, so this role would be a perfect opportunity for a communications professional looking to progress their career. Design and video-editing skills would be an advantage. Communications Officers take part in a 24/7 rota. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary. For more information on this role please contact David Old on (01234) 842190.
