Following a recent restructure, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Communications Officer at Bedfordshire Police. Leading a team of five Communications Officers and a busy press office, the Senior will play a crucial role in helping Bedfordshire Police protect people and fight crime. The successful candidate will take part in a duty rota, handling media enquiries, writing appeals and publishing across a variety of internal and external channels. They must be able to demonstrate skills of engaging with the media and experience of applying journalistic law when appropriate.

The role is also responsible for dedicated portfolio areas – supporting the unit, or department’s objectives by creating bespoke integrated communications campaigns. The successful candidate will have experience of leading a small team, excellent communications skills, working under pressure and as part of a wider team with a high attention to detail and confidence to persuade and influence officers at all levels.

The force has unique challenges and is often in the national media spotlight, so this role would be a perfect opportunity for a communications professional looking to progress their career. Design and video-editing skills would be an advantage. For more information on this role please contact David Old on (01234) 842190.
